An act relating to firearms relinquishment and storage procedures
Enacts recommendations of the Firearm Surrender Order Compliance Working Group. People ordered to give up firearms may relinquish them to a third party (other than police or a dealer) only after a court hearing finds it safe, and the third party must pass a NICS background check and sign an affidavit. It also sets procedures for dealer storage and for release or sale of relinquished guns, and requires a statewide model police policy on firearm access by prohibited persons.
What it does: Tightens rules for surrendering firearms under court orders, especially transfers to third parties.
